2009 (JUNIOR): Played in four games for UNCP. Registered a 187.0 efficiency rating after throwing for 57 yards on 5-of-7 (71.4 percent) passing with one touchdown. Also rushed one time for five yards. Completed 5-of-7 for 57 yards and a touchdown at Frostburg State, while also rushing for five yards. Threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to L.J. Johnson in the third quarter.
2008 (SOPHOMORE): Played in nine games for UNCP, with a pair of starts to his credit. Made starts against both Wingate and Lane, recording a 1-1 record as a starter on the season. Registered a 114.2 efficiency rating after throwing for 533 yards on 58-of-94 (61.7 pct.) passing with two touchdowns and one interception. Also rushed for a touchdown as well. Combined to throw for 142 yards on 17-of-21 passing in UNCP’s first two games of the season, completing 10-of-12 attempts for 75 yards and a touchdown in the home opener against Davidson. Threw for 123 yards on 14-of-21 passing against Jacksonville. Completed 6-of-16 passes for 48 yards over next three games at Lane, Webber International and West Virginia Wesleyan. Turned in second 100-yard passing game of season against Edward Waters, tallying 118 yards with one touchdown and an interception on 9-of-15 passing. Completed 4-of-6 passing attempts for 36 yards in final action of season against Concord.
BEFORE UNCP: Played one season (2007) at Tusculum. Played in three games for the Pioneers. Threw for five yards and a touchdown on 4-of-7 passing with no interceptions. Was a perfect 3-for-3 for 16 yards, including a 12-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter, in a rout of St. Paul’s.
HIGH SCHOOL: A dual-threat quarterback at Avery County High School for coach Darrell Brewer. Completed better than 58 percent of his passing attempts and threw for 2,500 yards and 25 touchdowns as a prep senior in leading Vikings to a program-best 11 wins and a deep run in the state playoffs. Also ran for 737 yards and 19 more scores. Earned team most valuable player laurels at season’s end. Prepped for Bunn High School and coach David Howle as a junior. Tallied 1,748 passing yards and 500 rushing yards in leading Wildcats to undefeated regular season and program-best 12 victories. Booked 41 total touchdowns (28 passing). Named most athletic following standout season. Also earned team MVP accolades as a member of the basketball team at Avery County. Also lettered three times in baseball at both schools.
